about the parade
The Gawler Christmas Parade is a much loved community tradition that brings the magic of the festive season to life each year. Filled with colour, music, lights and laughter, the parade celebrates everything we love about Christmas: family, community and being together!
Local groups, schools, businesses and community organisations come together to create a vibrant procession of floats, performers and festive displays, all leading up to a very special guest: Santa himself. His arrival marks the true beginning of the Christmas season in Gawler, delighting children and adults alike.
The parade's return in 2023 was made possible thanks to the dedication of former Member for Light, Tony Piccolo, who, with a very busy team of elves worked to bring this cherished event back to the town. In 2025, he entrusted the future of the parade to the Rotary Club of Gawler Light where it is now proudly organised by a passionate group of volunteers committed to keeping the tradition alive.
More than just a parade, this annual event is a celebration of community spirit. It's a chance for friends, families and visitors to line the streets, share in the excitement, and create lasting Christmas memories.
Each year, Gawler shines with festive parade welcoming back Santa and spreading Christmas cheer for all to enjoy.
what is gawler light rotary?
The Rotary Club of Gawler Light is an active community service group, bringing together local people to take action in bettering the world through humanitarian service. We are local business leaders and community leaders who believe that no single action is too small, and no great idea is too big.
You'll find us out in the community helping local organisations like the Gawler Central Football Club, the Town of Gawler and Gawler & District College. Rotary is also about supporting young people in their journeys of leadership - be it through Interact at school, the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment, the One & All Youth Sailing Challenge, Youth Exchange, National Youth Science Forum and so much more....

Twilight Markets (5:00pm - 9:00pm): Proudly brought to town by the Gawler Apex Club, enjoy a fantastic range of local stalls, food, and festive gifts.
Gawler Christmas Parade (7:00pm): The highlight of the evening, presented by the Rotary Club of Gawler Light.
Riverbank Christmas Display Lighting (from 8.45pm): Watch the magic come to life as the display is officially lit, thanks again to the Rotary Club of Gawler Light.
